Artist Statement
I believe Art to be societies escape from the mental burden of everyday life, by giving an outlet to express and provoke emotions. A piece of art can make you feel emotions such as: Joy, Sorrow, Freedom, Guilt, and peace. Emotion drives art, for artist create the work to express their soul. Society looks at the art to find a connection that relates to them or provokes an emotion within their soul. Certain elements help bring out emotion such as: Color scheme and line. Different color schemes and hues can add a particular mood to a work. Line can capture an emotion of excitement just by applying a dramatic diagonal. Both of these elements enhance the artist subject as well as contribute to provoke an emotion out of the viewer.
